Assessment Centre Tips

If you pass the telephone interview, you will then be invited to an assessment centre. You may already have some experience of an assessment centre environment; but if you do, please don’t assume that this will be the same. Make sure that you are fully prepared, you know where the event is, you get there on time and you give it your best shot.

  • Be yourself. Don’t try and be the person you think we want.
  • If you are prepared, you will be able to act more naturally and show just what you can do.
  • Think about the experiences you’ve had that can prove that you’ve got the qualities to work at RBS.
  • Read newspapers and business magazines to practise taking in written information.
  • Completing crosswords and Sudoku puzzles can improve your numerical and verbal reasoning skills.
  • Don’t be afraid of asking questions before or during the event.
  • Dress in business attire.
  • If you can’t remember how to do some basic numerical calculations, refresh your memory before you come.
