At a glance
  • Entry criteria - a 2:1 degree in any discipline and a minimum of 280 UCAS points or equivalent from top three A levels.
  • Locations – London.
  • Six functions with one objective
  • Supporting business success internally can take many forms, and require many separate skills. So it’s best to think of our Chief Administrative Office (CAO) as six specialist functions: Change Management, Marketing Services, Operations, Support, Business Risk and Controls and Communications.

High Street to high security
Working together to support the growth and business performance of the bank as a whole, each of these functions has a valuable part to play in setting our strategy, guiding future developments and maintaining business as usual. Their impact is clear across every area of our business – from maintaining our local profile to setting the strongest possible fraud prevention controls.

Gaining the business overview
Our graduate programme is designed to provide you with an overall view of these functions, and the vital head office support roles that they fulfil within our corporate frontline business. Over the course of the scheme, you’ll be seconded to different teams, and will experience first-hand the breadth and diversity of activities, as well as the contrasts between such areas as Change Management, Business Risk and Controls, Operations and Support.

Variety matched by challenge
As you can imagine, there’s a lot of variety to get to grips with. So expect to find yourself involved in a series of interesting and challenging exercises in different areas. These could range from testing business controls to working on a major change initiative, to helping to run a continuous improvement programme. By the time you complete the programme, you’ll have worked your way through a variety of roles across the business, and will be well and truly prepared for your first permanent position.

Delivering customer satisfaction across the business
If you have a strong instinct for customer service and are keen to work in an environment where your efforts can make a visible and lasting difference, this is the area for you. It is a measure of our commitment to excellent customer service that the frontline business is always equipped with tools that can best help them to deliver theirs.

What we’ll be looking for
Although we’re an internally-facing group of functions, everything we do is done with the end-customer in mind. Therefore, the ability to communicate well, to build relationships and gain influence based on strong collaboration, perceptive information-gathering, understanding and trust are all terrifically important to us.
